Cloud Strategy for Public Sector

In partnership with the Government Digital Service (GDS), Steve co designed, launched, and executed a comprehensive two day cross government Azure conference aimed at upskilling civil servants across Whitehall in cutting edge cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence capabilities. Serving as lead organiser, strategic partner, and technical architect, Steve delivered the opening keynote address to an audience of 300+ senior decision makers, CTOs, developers, and technical practitioners representing major UK government departments. His keynote examined the United Kingdom's accelerating advancement into artificial intelligence, contextualised by the historic AI Safety Summit, and framed the nation's current position as a pivotal inflection point: a moment where strategic choices around responsible AI governance, cloud sovereignty, and digital modernisation would determine Britain's competitive standing in the global technology landscape. The conference curriculum covered Azure AI Services (including Azure OpenAI Service and Cognitive Services), GitHub Copilot for Government (AI assisted coding tailored for public sector security requirements), Azure Security & Compliance frameworks (ensuring data sovereignty and government grade protection), and pragmatic cloud migration strategies for transitioning legacy systems to modern infrastructure. Steve's leadership in orchestrating this event underscored the critical importance of equipping public sector technologists with the knowledge and tools necessary to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative digital services for UK citizens.
